MIT Bootcamps offers the Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Biomedical Product Development program, which is a hybrid program focusing on substance use disorders (SUD). The program aims to spark the creation of innovative biomedical ventures in the SUD space, addressing a challenging problem area with significant personal and societal impacts.
The program consists of live expert webinars, online courses, and culminates in a five-day Bootcamp at MIT. Participants will learn the fundamentals of technology commercialization, from invention to innovation, and gain skills in technology analysis, innovation best practices, technology transfer, and intellectual property protection.
The program also covers the unique challenges of biomedical ventures, providing insights into payor dynamics, complex sales processes to healthcare providers, and the biomedical arena of healthcare ventures. Participants will enhance their knowledge of substance use disorders, studying examples of existing entrepreneurs in the field and developing relationships with professionals who share a passion for addressing this issue.
The program is designed for researchers, engineers, data scientists, doctors, nurses, business professionals, and graduate students with relevant skills and a passion for the problem of substance use disorders. The application process is competitive, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the cohort limit is reached.
The program takes place online during Fall 2023 and includes an immersive five-day in-person program at MIT and the Boston startup ecosystem from January 15 to 19, 2024. Tuition for the program is fully covered by NIH/NIDA, and additional support is provided for travel to and from Cambridge, MA, as well as accommodation in Cambridge near the MIT campus for the duration of the program.
